20 Lifespan Essential Foodstuffs
If you want to live longer you need to think about what food you put in your body. McDonalds is a great place to eat but if you eat there everyday you not going to have a healthy life.
Professor Gary Williamson, from the department of food science at Leeds University, has produced a list of 20 “lifespan essential” foodstuffs.
There is a couple of surprises on the food list. It seams like chocolate, coffee and tea are among the key foods and drinks needed to live a long and healthy life according to a leading nutritional scientist.
He said that foodstuffs on the list, which is dominated by fruits and vegetables, can also help to slow down the ageing process by helping to protect cells from the natural damage that occurs over time.
The 20 foods are:
- apples
- blackberries
- black tea
- blueberries
- broccoli
- cereal bran
- cherries
- cherry tomatoes
- coffee
- cranberries
- dark chocolate
- green tea
- oranges
- peaches
- plums
- raspberries
- red grapes
- red onions
- spinach
- strawberries
