Twitter Traffic Machine And Dominating Twitter

in Marketing, Tools by Thomas Skavhellen on May 7th, 20091 Comment

twitternotachatToday I want to share with you two products that I have used this past 9 days to really get the ball rolling on Twitter. As you should know by now, Twitter is one of the traffic sources out there not to be missed.

Every now and then when I send out a link that I want to share with people around 2%  of my followers will click it. That’s one if the reasons to go out and get people to follow you and follow them back. Other reasons is to find cool people to connect and network with, maybe find a future business partner.

There is a big difference between a mass follow and strategic building of your Twitter list. The two products I have used the past 9 days  explains this very well. People uses Twitter for different reasons, mine is to network with other marketers and teach and learn things to build my business.

So here is how I went from 380 - 2058 followers on Twitter in 9 days…

How Do You Manage Your Online Social Life?

in Blogging, Marketing, Tools by Thomas Skavhellen on May 3rd, 2009No Comments

Social Start PagesSince this is a marketing blog I will try to answer this question from a marketing perspective. Today you need to be all over the social medias to get seen online. You need to promote yourself, your blog and your business to get some revenue at all.  A blog by itself is not enough.

But when you have 5000 friends on Facebook, 40.000 followers on Twitter and even a bunch of followers on MySpace, LinkedIn and many more it’s hard to be productive and get down to a personal level

First Things First
Facebook newly got a nice “hide”- function on the main feed. It’s really easy to use. If you don’t want to hear any more from the people that update their status every minute or those guys that always take those quiz’s to find out who their real parents are or who they are in the show “How I Met Your Mother”, you can easily click the hide function and remove them from the feed. (They will not even notice) Then…

Get Over 400 Backlinks to Your Blog Now

in Blogging, SEO by Thomas Skavhellen on April 22nd, 20098 Comments

Do FollowIf you don’t know the importance of back linking you should go back and read my post about getting more traffic to your blog. One way of getting more traffic is to walk over to other websites and forums that you like and start commenting and leave your signature. Your signature should always link back to your own blog.

Many blogs and forums also give you something called a Do-follow link. This is a peace of code that tells Google and other search engines that they linked to your site. That again is called a back link. Sites that doesn’t offer a Do-follow link will kind of hide for the search engines and tell them that they do not link to you. Kind of a white lie don’t you think?

That’s why I find blogs that offer do-follow links very valuable. They give something back to you for commenting on their posts. And the more back links your site have, the more popular google think you are. So it gives you cred at the same time that they give you traffic. What more can you ask for?

So last week when I was stumbling around for great blogs to leave my comments on I found 2 great posts on a blog written by this 17 year old girl. She have gathered a list with links to 287 DoFollow Blogs and 120 DoFollow Forums so you can get started to build your back link farm right away.

BONUS: Right before posting this I found a directory of DoFollow blogs that had over 200 more blogs to comment on. Guess the 17 year old girl did a better job, but this DoFollowBlogs.com have some nice categorizing

Hope you like it and please comment here as well with your questions and experience with do follow and back links.

Around November last year I got an job offer from a big company that want me aboard to help them out with some IT projects. I was really flattered and happily said yes to the job mostly beacuse it ment change in my life. I got a nice paycheck but I had to move to a new town and kind of start over again socially. After 6 months I must say I’m happy with the change and so glad that I moved.

Outsource what you don’t know

in Blogging, Marketing, SEO by Thomas Skavhellen on January 25th, 20096 Comments

outsoruceThere comes a time where you just don’t have time to learn yourself everything about SEO and marketing and everything else you are supposed to know to run a successful blog and make money on the Internet. But don’t blame yourself, you should be very organized and have awesome time management skills to get around everything from making your own product, running a blog, twitter, spend time on your mailing list and all the SEO things with article writing, hubpages and squidoo lenses.

I worked and played with some keywords too, but when talking to a SEO guy that I’ve been buying services from, he told me I was doing everything wrong.

That was when I thought.. why try to use a lot of time with squidoo and hubpages when all the hours I will put into it, probably will be wrong. The keywords will be all messed up and the end result will not be as good as $30 dollars will get me.

It’s Not To Late To Get Big On Twitter

in Marketing, Tools by Thomas Skavhellen on January 14th, 20095 Comments

vikingtwitterTwitter has been around for a little over a year already and 2008 has really been the year for Twitter. It has become a tool for traffic and marketing but also to keep connected to friends and family. Many people do like me, they use one account for business and one for private. It’s almost impossible to track all the conversations on my business account but on my private it’s easy and fun.

Many people I’ve talked to think it’s to late to jump on the Twitter train. That it is filled with users marketers and people that try to sell you stuff and spam you. I don’t blame them, there is so much spam coming from some of the users and Twitter is working hard to kick off the black hat marketers that wants to build fast and hard. Just yesterday I tried to follow some of the people that follows me, but many of them where blocked for climbing to fast. He he.. stupid newbies.

Anyhow, It’s not to late to get big on Twitter. Twitterholic keeping track of who is big and who is not on Twitter and if you look at it with my eyes, a Norwegian Viking, It’s not that hard to be the biggest Twitter user in all of Norway. The Kid Tech Guru wrote a blog post last month about the Top 3 Twitter users from every contry in the world making the biggest Twitter user in Norway the net browser Opera with 1,749 followers.

If you live in the states you have some hard work to do to get the biggest on Twitter. You need to beat the President himself, Barack Obama with his 149.000 followers.

So when will you be big on Twitter? And will you black hat yourself to the top or get people to follow with a friendly giving smile?

I’ll try the last one! Please add me to Twitter! *Friendly Giving Smile* and help a Norwegian Viking to be the biggest Twitter user in Norway :-P
